Sangria Red or White

1 bottle wine
1/2 cup brandy
1/4 cup triple sec
simple syrup to taste
1 apple or pear
1 seedless/navel orange
grapes, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries

Pick a wine on the sweeter side. For red a ganache is traditional, but a jammy pinot noir will work as well. Rieslings work well for white. The more tart or tannic the wine the more syrup will be required to balance.

The fruit is highly variable. Generally only soft fruits such as bananas and kiwi fruit don9t work well. Because I like to eat all the fruit I also try to try to avoid lemons and limes.

Mix liquid ingredients. Add syrup to taste. Divide equally among four glasses.

Core apple/pear, dice into pieces, and spread evenly across four glasses. Peel orange, dice into pieces, and spread evenly across four glasses. Divide the rest of the fruit across the glasses.

Place in refrigerator long enough to chill, but overnight is better.
