Hamburger Buns
2 cups milk
1/4 cup margarine, melted
1/4 cup warm water
1/4 cup white sugar
2 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast or 3 tsp instant
2 teaspoons salt
6 cups all-purpose flour, or as needed
Combine milk, margarine, warm water, and sugar. Warm to no more than 120F. Stir to dissolve sugar. If using active dry yeast sprinkle it on top and allow it to proof for 5 minutes. If not just dump the yeast in and go on. Mix in the salt, and gradually stir in the flour until you have a soft dough. Divide into pieces, and form into balls. For large rolls divide into 12 pieces (hoagie sized), for medium divide into 16 pieces (hamburger sized), and for small divide into 24 pieces (dinner roll sized). Place on baking sheets so they are 2 to 3 inches apart. Cover with a damp towel and let rise for 20 minutes to an hour in a warm place.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Bake the rolls for 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Cool slightly, then split them in half horizontally to fill with your favorite burgers.
