Day 4, Tuesday, December 14, 2010
Busy day! Went to Boulder with Ellen and hung out while she ran errands and did holiday shopping. But we didn't take the car. We went by bus. Here I am riding in one of the panniers on Ellen's cross bike. We stopped for a break in the Willow Farm Park to take pictures.

Day 4, Tuesday, December 14, 2010 (continued)
Me hanging out in front of the red barn that was moved from an old homestead to the Willow Farm Park. There's a cool playground, roller/hockey rink, and a basketball court here. The park is bordered by a tributary of the St. Vrain River called Dry Creek.

Day 4, Tuesday, December 14, 2010 (continued)
Got to ride a huge bus. RTD (Regional Transportation District) is a company that works with local city and state governments to provide transportation between cities. This bus is called the “Bolt” because it bolts down the highway from Longmont to Boulder in about 30 minutes, and then heads back again.

Day 4, Tuesday, December 14, 2010 (continued)
(a) Riding the bus was cool. The seats were a little big for me (pictuere 4).

(b) Walked along Boulder Creek watching the ducks and squirrels. People were eating their lunches on benches and picnic tables. Boulder Creek rushes down from the mountains through Boulder Canyon (picture 5).

Day 4, Tuesday, December 14, 2010 (continued)
Visited the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse. Very beautiful. It was sent over in pieces from Tajikistan and assembled by hand here. It sits on the Boulder Creek and you can see the foothills of the Rocky Mountains from the patio (picture 6). See the stuff from the Internet that I printed out about the Teahouse.

Day 4, Tuesday, December 14, 2010 (continued)
Hung around in a play area along Boulder Creek. Lots of statues here in the Haerding Sculpture Garden. (a) Playing on top of a statue of a little girl playing with her dad, but I fell off. Ow! (picture 7).

(b) That's much better (picture 8).

(c) On canyon Boulevard looking west at the Foothills (picture 9).

Day 4, Tuesday, December 14, 2010 (continued)
(a) Hung out on Pearl Street Mall, a pedestrian mall with lots of shops where cars can't go (picture 10).

Day 4, Tuesday, December 14, 2010 (continued)
We hung out for a while at Book Ends Cafe, at the west end of the pedestrian mall. All of these stores and businesses are inside old buildings dating back to the 1860s and 1870s (picture 11).

Day 4, Tuesday, December 14, 2010 (continued)
We returned to the Boulder Transit Center in downtown to catch the BOLT back to Longmont. (a) I asked the security guard for help figuring out when the next BOLT would leave. (picture 12 – unavailable). (b) We sat inside the transit center to wait for out bus (picture 13).

Day 4, Tuesday, December 14, 2010 (continued)
Tuesday night we (Dave, Ellen and I) went to Proto's pizza, a restaurant that serves only Napoletana-style pizza, gourmet salads, and unusual desserts, for their monthly wine dinner. The chef, LeAnn, made a very yummy pizza with sausage and lots of red sauce. I could only nibble because my stomach is so flat… (picture 14).
